This year The Skills Organisation (Skills) decided to recognise outstanding employers, who have consistently contributed to industry trades training in New Zealand over the years, through the awarding of a ‘Skills Legends’ certificate. This initiative recognises employers that demonstrate their ongoing support to apprentices and trainees.
Auckland Plumbers Group owners/directors, John Hurcombe and Andrew Durrans, were pleasantly surprised that the company had been recognised in this way and graciously accepted a Skills Legends certificate, which is now displayed prominently in the office.
“We are proud supporters of industry training, with two apprentices on the books. Both are very valuable members of our team. As the lifeblood of our industry we’d like to see more companies invest in New Zealand’s skilled labour future,” says Andrew.
The inaugural Skills Legends campaign has been widely successful, with aims to continue building and fostering strong industry partnerships across New Zealand into 2016 and beyond. To read more about Skills and the award, please click here.
