We are proud to announce the installation of a life-saving defibrillator for use by our Onehunga community. It is available 24/7 outside our workshop at 59B Church Street.
The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is there for anyone in the community to use 24/7.
The AED was the suggestion of the Auckland Plumbers Group team… Auckland Plumbers Group company has a strong focus on health and safety, both for their workforce and customers, and the installation of the AED takes this one step further. We’re always looking at improving health and safety, and this initiative aligns with our company culture of looking out for everybody, including our community.
An AED is a safe and easy-to-use machine that is used to treat Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Having an AED in your workplace or community can increase someone’s survival chances by up to 44%; without an AED, the chance of survival decreases by 10% for each minute that goes by without treatment. It is a lightweight, portable device that analyses the heart’s rhythm and if necessary, delivers an electric shock, known as defibrillation, to help restore the heart’s natural rhythm. Modern AEDs are designed to be used by someone with little or no training, so through visual and voice prompts, it guides users through an emergency by diagnosing the victim’s heart rhythm.
Remember, If you’re with someone who is unwell and you suspect a heart attack, always call 111 first.
